(solved) Open as root in menu

PostPosted by erikdubois » Sun Mar 05, 2017 10:50 pm

Environment - VirtualBox
VirtualBox version - 5.1.14 r112924
ISO version - archlabs-2017.03.02-.iso

menu : system / File manager as root
asks password
but no icons when I become root.
not easy to work

Is it just me? Since I have tweaked archlabs regarding icons and themes quite a bit.

That could be the reason. I have no problem with icons opening File Manager as root from the menu.

Just you on this one Erik. Never experienced this issue before. Have you tested this on a vanilla install?

On a vanilla installation it works fine, but if you download and install icons to the home folder of the user, then launching File Manager as root does not show any icons.

Copy your icon sets to /usr/share/icons and then check by launching File Manager as root. The fix worked for me.

just did the vanilla install and indeed it works with the standard icons.
my icons are indeed in my home folder ~/.icons
so how can root use these icons
it is obvious once you think about it
thanks for thinking with me
