Adhi Pambudi is the specialist and creative mind here.
I will ask him (if he has the time) to write it down here

I can help
You can wait for the next release of archlabs with i3 included
The screen above is using i3 wm with gaps installed

If you want to have something similar in openbox then keep reading

I am working on keybinding to do many different layouts in openbox
As well as a set of window rules to help along, Adhi is currently trying these out as well

Not sure how much you know about openbox but you can get what you need to get going here
https://github.com/natemaia/openbox-tiling

If you have suggestions for different layouts or need help getting it going let me know
I'm looking to add more to my setup and would love to help

Thanks

Well I installed the i3 wm and installed i3gui and finally got the window borders to look like the ones shown in the pictureusing this code in the config file:

Code: Select all
## window border size
new_window pixel 6

## window boder colors
# class                 border  backgr. text    indicator child_border
client.focused          #DC143C #285577 #ffffff #DC143C   #DC143C
client.focused_inactive #333333 #5f676a #ffffff #484e50   #5f676a
client.unfocused        #333333 #222222 #888888 #292d2e   #222222
client.urgent           #2f343a #900000 #ffffff #900000   #900000
client.placeholder      #000000 #0c0c0c #ffffff #000000   #0c0c0c

client.background       #ffffff

## bar 3 color scheme syntax:
## focused workspac <workspace border> <workspace filling> <text color>
bar {
   position top
   status_command i3status
     colors {
      background $bg-color
          separator #757575
      #                  border             background         text
      focused_workspace  #DC143C              #DC143C            #ffffff
#      inactive_workspace $inactive-bg-color $inactive-bg-color $inactive-text-color
#      urgent_workspace   $urgent-bg-color   $urgent-bg-color   $text-color
   }
}

However I have no idea how to get the bar to look the way you have it. I think I'm gonna give up and wait for R2-D2 to come out and see then, because the documentation for tiling wm based bars in general look really bad. In the meantime I'm gonna keep using tint2 as my default panel lol. #idkwatimdoin

Don't give up yet :)
I have made a tutorial how to achive this customization.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... FN6LWxka00
The file is named "Tiling In The Name Of"
Every file needed is included.

And you should try Natemaia's Openbox tiling as well.
It's really awesome.

You are welcome!
And my setup has a bug, the workspaces can't be appeared on the bar.
I have done everything I can do but still no result.
Probably because Lemonbar latest release was in 2015, so it can't catch the current i3 workspace management. Gonna update my config in the Drive with my current i3blocks config.
