(solved) Minor Bugs

PostPosted by Volteos » Tue Jun 20, 2017 2:48 am

Hey, upon installing the system several times trying to diagnose an issue with my wifi that at ended up being hardware based and not software, there are a few bugs to point out:

-The first bug was that there was an issue with adjusting Light DM preferences where changing the login wallpaper didn't actually work and instead was left with a black login background. Not sure if I put the wrong file format for the image, but I did try jpg and png files, and they didn't work.
-I know dobbie mentioned that he's gonna remove this as a comment in a review video, but the extra xfce4 appearance setting option isnt necessary when you have xfce4 settings manager under the preferences.
-For Tint2 GUI when you try to change the icon theme and hit apply the icons change back to their default theme. Upon reboot they change, but maybe this can be fixed.

Overall I think this OS is of genuine quality and really shows that a lot of work was put into it so far, and being the first time I actually use openbox makes it all the more worth it. As long as it remains stable, I will keep using it and I think making tutorial videos was an okay idea to replace a common wiki, however on the channel I think it wouls be best to organize them into playlists so that it's easy to find things. I also want a video on how to customize the terminal screens, that would be awesome. o.O

Hi thanks for helping us to get better

-The first bug was that there was an issue with adjusting Light DM preferences where changing the login wallpaper didn't actually work and instead was left with a black login background. Not sure if I put the wrong file format for the image, but I did try jpg and png files, and they didn't work.

Works fine on 4.1.0+. Just used one of the wallpapers that were available on /usr/share/backgrounds/archlabs

-I know dobbie mentioned that he's gonna remove this as a comment in a review video, but the extra xfce4 appearance setting option isnt necessary when you have xfce4 settings manager under the preferences.

True but I rather leave it in. As we are all changing our appearance all the time. It gives a nice overview of what can be changed in ArchLabs. I have just added Rofi appearance as well. You will get a nice little group of applications that are all about appearance.

-For Tint2 GUI when you try to change the icon theme and hit apply the icons change back to their default theme. Upon reboot they change, but maybe this can be fixed.

Tint2 just does not play nice with icons - period - I hope some development will be done in that area. You can always fall back on other panel managers like xfce4-panels... or others

But because of your input I will make a separator between all the appearance menu's
It will improve the clarity of the menu.

Keep your concerns coming.
We can not solve them all but we can try.
