Calamares swap size

PostPosted by blaze » Tue Jun 13, 2017 10:54 pm

Here I wondered about the size of the swap file Calamres creates during installation.

post720.html?hilit=calamares%20swap%20size#p720

Asked on the Github page, got a mail back and the answer is;

"What if you want to use hibernate and are using 6-7 Gb of RAM when you start hibernate? That is why swap is set this way. With "ensureSuspendToDisk" on, 4GiB RAM gives 8GiB swap; with it off, 4GiB swap. If you expect to be able to suspend to disk, you need enough swap to support that, and Calamares defaults to something safe (unless the distro configures it differently)."

:)
