(solved) Annoying problem with terminal and mc

PostPosted by lowrider » Sun May 14, 2017 8:16 am

On a fresh installed system one of my first task is to install mc (midnight commander) to have a nice filemanager for the console.
For some reason it takes a long time to start, and long means nearly 10 seconds  I tried termite, terminator, urxvt and even the raw console via crtl-alt-f2 but the issue persists. Can anyone confirm and/or how to fix?

Thx Dobbie. My hardware is a very limited Asus 1225c netbook. But this thing tripleboots with BunsenLabs, DebianSid and ArchLabs +4. On BL and Sid mc starts within a second or two but on AL it takes nearly 10. Maybe someone with lowpowered hardware can check...

7-8 seconds here. Yes it is a bit annoying, but not a deal breaker. :)

For sure not a deal breaker. I just wonder where this difference between my debian based installs and archlabs comes from.
