(solved) Missing WPS

PostPosted by Brandini » Sun May 07, 2017 11:50 pm

I have recently upgraded to ArchLabs 4 and have two problems.
First - the terminal - although terminator appears to be installed and I have replaced termite with terminator under preferred applications I still appeared to have terminator starting up.
I edited the xml-menu next and replaced " termite " with " terminator " and I then get a termite lookalike with terminator listed as text, but it does not behave like the old terminator - there is no scrollbar at the right and no proper menu drop-down on the left.

This is confusing because the Icon for terminator is the same under preferred applications but it does not look or behave like terminator.
Is this an adapted version, because if it is I would like the old one back. This one is only part-functional
and does not function as terminator should function.

My second problem is that I can't find wps ( kingsoft office ) in the repos.
I have tried installing via sudo pacman and yaourt and it can't be found.
I downloaded pkgbrowser and can't find it in there either.

If it has been removed from the repos for whatever reason why does the terminal give me all the wps-extensions to download but no wps?

So, I now have two different systems.
On my desktop I have ArchLabs 3 with a fully functional Terminator and a complete WPS-office-suite.
On my laptop I now have ArchLabs4 with a part-functional terminator and no wps-office-suite .

Do I need to re-install ArchLabs3 on my laptop to get things back the way I prefer? :?

OK, I have successfully resolved the wps-office problem. Managed to scroll by highlighting all revealed text and found it at item 12, so that issue is solved.Still prefer the original terminator, though.

Thanks Sector 11,
I have just found I can't open menu.xml to edit.
Everything else opens ok, /pacman.conf, etc
I had a previous problem with a Kodi skin locking my screen so it could have upset something.
I may need to do another install.

p.s. I have all the depends

Yes I have, I tried gedit, & leafpad too, but neither can find the file.
I am ready to reinstall now.
I'll get back to you when I have reinstalled . I still have access to my main system so it's not a major issue for me, just an annoying inconvenience. ;)

Well, I am back and now have a clean perfect install with menu.xml once more accessible.
I also have terminator back the way I wanted it, but I did it the easy way via -places .config.terminator via the openbox menu.
I am rather new to openbox and I didn't know you could do that.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the help and advice. :P
