Knock knock ... is this the place?

PostPosted by Sector11 » Sun May 07, 2017 2:55 am

Well, whatever release I have (4.0) it's "my" ARCHLabs 'alpha' release.
98% new to anything ARCH ...

Printed out the 'Manual' years ago and got ARCH installed to the CLI but borked it trying to get a desktop in. That's my previous ARCH experience. :)

So colour me the ARCHLabs NoobRat and let me out of the LabRat cages every now and then.

I'm here to make conkys! Well and learn about ARCH too.

Hello Sector11 nice to meet you. Yes, things are a little bit different in Arch, and...it might go #! :)

Thank you ... this is a "play with distro" for me. I need 1386 for my printer. But the devs have made it a very viable companion to BunsenLabs. It's remarkable, I love it!

Naaaaaaa I have a good 'keystone" in place ... it's called "The ARCHLabs DVD" 8-)

USB boots not functioning at the moment - dumb old computer.

There's a reason people say:
At times many people wrote:Give it to Sector11, he can break anything!

So I'm use to things going OOPS! ;)

Also if I can't break it: It's Certified by S11 as Noob Friendly.

Yes that is one of the things that makes it so gorgeously cool, it is Arch made noob friendly. Or am I just a blaspheming  now :?:

I would say if you were in the main ARCH forum, that would be the case and you'd probably have to duck/dodge and run all the while yelling: "INCOMING!"

I'm glad to see that AL Forum is a bit more friendly. ;)

^Yes, no need to wire up hyper tension...let us just try to chill and have fun!

But I also have to admit that I sometimes do understand the frustration when things go too off... :|

@ blaze

Could not agree with you more on both points!

Not here to bash any OS, not even that ... well, you know the one.
It sounds like the things I open in the summer and close in the winter or inclement weather.

We're here (Linuxlandia) to share freely what we can and help those that need it. At least I am.

I actually came here on a promise. I promised Dobbie03 that I would try ARCHLabs when "4" came out.

Installed it ... borked it, re-installed it ... borked it again, re-Installed it again and borked it yet again.
re-installed it ... it's still here, I quite like it.

There are some things that are :( for me, but to come and play with ARCHLabs is great;
  1. screenruler <- very handy for spacing things
  2. can't get a terminal in 'medit' working,
  3. trying to configure the font in terminator just doesn't work
  4. editing compton - the commands don't want to 'stick', and
  5. the drivers for my Brother Laser Printer (i386 only)

Points:
1. - not a lot I can do about screenruler
2. - it's a learning process, I'm having to much fun with conky to worry about it at the moment, not insurmountable
3. - see 2
4. - see 2
5. - :(

I did get my "OpenBox" setup over from BL but some of my theamims don't want to work - YET!!!!!!

OH and nivida drivers ... need that sucker ... these green tints to the fonts are driving me

Have not tried to see if the colour coding works in medit in ARCHLabs or for conky v1.10 for that matter.

Time and patience heals all OOPSIES! I'm here for a good time not a hard time.

Amazingly, our printer was auto-configured the moment it was plugged in and works beautifully by usb AND network in ARCHLabs... Couldn't believe it! Having unfettered print support is an enormous factor in our home and is greatly appreciated. :)
